XEIKON STOPS MARKET INTRODUCTION

OF SHEET-FED CSP 320 D

Xeikon International will focus resources on web-fed digital printing solutions

Birmingham, UK (April 9, 2002) - Xeikon International, the leading supplier of digital color printing solutions for the professional market, today announced that it will stop the market introduction of its sheet-fed digital color press, the CSP 320 D.

Xeikon International will focus its resources on the company’s well established products, the web-fed DCP product family, which has been responsible for Xeikon’s leadership position in production digital color printing with over 2,200 installations worldwide. This decision allows Xeikon to better allocate the technical and marketing resources that would have been required to successfully launch a second product line in the crowded and highly competitive market of mid-volume, cut-sheet systems. This is the first in a series of strategic decisions from Xeikon since Punch International acquired the company in March 2002.

“The CSP 320 D is an outstanding and unique product, which offered valuable advancements in technology,” says Jan Van Daele, CEO of Xeikon International. “We are proud of what our engineers have achieved. Some unique technological concepts developed for the CSP product line remain valuable parts of our portfolio. These will be secured and further developed, and may be incorporated into future products.”

Xeikon is evaluating the situation of the existing CSP customers on an individual basis. Together with the distribution partners it will search for a solution for each of them and in the mean time will continue to provide them full support.
